FCGB U15 Girls Orange WIN State First Division TITLE
A great weekend for FCGB with a Wisconsin State First Division League Title for the U15 Girls Orange Team and their coach Quinn Ross. The U17 Girls Orange traveled to St. Louis for the Metro United College Showcase.

11/1/08
FCGB U15 GO - MK Germantown (5-0)
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Kiwanis Park, the 15s started quickly with Reanne C. scoring only three minutes after the opening whistle.  As easy as this seemed, Germantown shut down the FCGB attack until Cierra P. tucked a great finish into the lower side netting before halftime.  After the intermission, the hosts were awarded a direct free kick just outside the penalty box, where Gabbie P. strolled up to the ball and struck the free kick before a wall could get set.  Her lazer ricocheted off the GKers knee and into the corner for a 3-0 lead.  Reanne C. then crossed to Breezy P. who finished from a perfectly timed half-volley that rose to the roof of the netting.  Alexis C. finished the day with a strong lower near post left foot drive for the final result.  Katie M. went the distance between the posts for the shutout, with help from Brianna W. and Kortney H. as solid center backs on the day.

11/2/08
FCGB U15 GO - Madison 56ers White (7-0)

The red-clad visitors from Madison did not help themselves this day as they showed up short of players after two previous beatings (0-6 at the FC Milwaukee Tournament and 0-7 in league) vs. the FCGB team.  Gabbie P. showed "No Mercy" with the first two breakaway attempts in the first 10 minutes.  Reanne C. scored the third on a rebound, then apparently scored a fourth.  The assistant referee awarded a goal as the ball was in the back of the net, but after the center official approached the opposing GKer, she set her straight and the goal was disallowed much to the chagrin of Reanne.  Not to worry, Emma T. got the fourth before half for a 4-0 lead.  Reanne got a measure of revenge on #5, hitting a shot off the fingertips of the 56er GK.  Then, after Molly P. took over in goal for the second half, Katie M. shook off her gloves and had several chances before she finally finished with a nice settle and turn into the lower corner.  The only drama left was to see if Cierra P. could keep her streak of 5 matches with at least one goal intact, and she did just that, extending it to 6 games with under 10 minutes to play.  The 7-0 final could have been worse, but there was much position switching and several chances that went walkabout.  The U15 Girls Orange team finished their Championship State League season with a 5-0-2 record, scoring 31 goals and allowing only three.

FCGB U14 BO - MK Tosa (1-2)
The 14s faced a tough test against the Tosa team with a powerful offense that has scored many goals but conceded a few as well.  A tough test for FCGB although they have given up  the least amount of goals in the league save it be the top side.  Tosa had one big striker #13 that caused the most problems, and he was the culprit on the first goal as he drifted away from the two center backs while they were watching the ball being served.  He settled calmly and pounded it into the corner, finishing clinically.  Shortly thereafter, a shot from just outside the 18 got past the fingertips of FCGB keeper Logan V. and the Orange found themselves down 0-2.  Michael cut the deficit in half before the break with a nice 1v1 dribble into the box and blast into the far lower corner.  The second 35 was very different as Paul stepped up the defensive presence on big #13, frustrating him into a yellow card and no more threats on goal.  Meanwhile, the offense wanted to take advantage of the short MK goalie, but nothing came of this.  The last 10 minutes was very busy, but the boys rushed a little too fast instead of making sure their few chances were executed cleanly. Unfortunately, the halftime score stayed until full time, and although playing well enough were on the wrong end of the result.  The 14 boys Orange returns to action this weekend at Brookfield in their final league match of the year.

FCGB U17 Girls Orange at Metro United Showcase in St Louis (2-1-0)
The U17 Girls Orange team and parents traveled to St Louis on Friday October 31. Their first game of the tournament was played at 10:45 AM on Saturday.
WC Arsenal SC Lady Gunners - FCGB U17 GO (0-6)
The U17 Girls Orange came out firing on the hard field of the Maryland Heights Soccer Complex. A first half with good soccer was rewarded through goals by Generve C. (assist Becca F.), Becca H. (assist Jessica B.) and Ashley N. (assist Becca F.) who finished a nice cross with a volley at the near post. In the 2nd half the same output of 3 goals, a clinical finish by Katie N. (assist Stephanie S.), Ashley N. got her 2nd of the game on a header off a long diagonal cross from Kelley E., Becca H. got her second after, and the teams 6th goal, after a nice combination with Generve.
Overall a good looking team performance with Jenna P. and Jasmine McK sharing the shutout.
Michigan Wolves/Hawks 92 White - FCGB U17 GO (2-1)
Despite the warnings from their coach, the 2nd game was not started as well as the first. The Michigan Hawks team did need the help from the referee, who awarded the MI team a, to say the least very questionable PK, after an alleged push away from the ball. Unfortunately it took another 5 minutes before the ladies in Orange realized that they were in fight to advance, and that despite having the better play for almost the entire game, the MI Hawks team was simply not willing to give them an easy W.  So, another moment of not so sharp play led to the 2nd goal of the MI team, right before halftime. The Hawks team did play on the edge the entire game, and many times also over the edge. The referee allowed it, and FC Green Bay did not find a way to reverse the trend of getting beat on 50/50 balls, as well as weaponing themselves against hard tackles by moving the ball quicker. In the 2nd half the ladies in Orange scored on a PK call.  Generve C, was fouled from behind, she stepped up and converted on a 2nd (rebound) try. There were at least a handful of chances to even the score, but unfortunately, legs of defenders, saves by the MI keeper and a few missed shots later the final score ended in favor of the Hawks team.
FCGB U17 GO - Galaxy 91/92 Blue, IL (3-1)
Lesson learned, the early Sunday AM wakeup (7:00 AM game time) was much sharper than Saturday's PM game, and the Galaxy team started out sloppy as a result of their wakeup.
With Ashley N. out with a thigh injury, the Green Bay team was down to 13 players. A great start of the game was rewarded with a nice goal by Stephanie S., assist by Katie N. who played her target role well all weekend, but even better today. Generve C. found Stephanie on a quickly taken  free kick, resulting in Steph's 2nd goal of the game. FCGB was moving the ball well and the Galaxy team was unable to deal with the waves of attack on their goal.
Early in the 2nd half Katie N, sealed the deal, off a cornerkick from Generve, and a nice touch by Becca H. A left footed shot in the low corner made it 3-0. The Galaxy team got a goal back in the dying moments of the game, a harmless looking cross was finished by a Galaxy forward.

Overall a great showing by the Orange Team from Green Bay. The defense, led by GK-ers Jasmine and Jenna (who also both showed some ball skills on the field) and their backline featuring the solid Mic and Mac connection ("you are not getting by us"), Jenee L(loves to attack like a modern wing back) and the always animated Jessica B ("you better not come near me, or...."). A solid midfield with Kelley E. (great long ball and a threat in the air on set plays), the tireless Stephanie S ("is there a marathon I could run after the game?"), Generve C. (I am going to beat you off the dribble, and let me see if I can beat you one more time after that), Kristin K. ("did I tell you about ....." ). Up front with target woman Katie N. ("let me turn here, and play the ball there for you"), Becca H. ("You want me to play fwd, or midfield, or back...sure, and I will do well"), Ashley N. ("let me put this cross away"), Katie F. ("Don't touch me, oops too late, I just got in behind you")

This team was a mix of current U17 and current U18 players, who are all eligible U18 players for next fall. Based on these few games, this promises another great season next fall for the 2009, U18 team.
