FCGB U18 Boys Orange - Croatian Eagles, 6-0 (5/10)
On saturday, early morning in Fond du Lac, the U18 guys kicked off in their first Wisconsin State Cup match. The U18's defeated the Croatian Eagles team again, after beating them 3-1 in Premier League play last weekend. This time the game was even more lobsided, 6 unanswered goals and a shutout for stand in keeper Noah Webb.
FCGB U18 Boys Orange - FC Milwaukee Blue, 1-4 (5/11)
A game against the 2007 National runner-up team from Milwaukee, with UWGB player JC Banks and many other future Division 1 players on their line-up card. With the help of a strong wind the FCGB guys were able to take a 1-0 lead going into half-time, PK converted by Ian Martin. Would there be an upset in the making? The class of the Milwaukee team showed in the second half when they struck shortly after the half-time "tea" to even out the match at 1 a piece, with a beautifully struck free-kick. The FC Milwaukee team than converted on two crosses coming in at the back post and another shot from long range to put the final score of 1-4 on the board.
FCGB U17 Boys Orange - Eclipse Black (IL), 1-4 (5/10)
FCGB U17 Boys Orange - NWI United (IN), 1-2 (5/10)
The U17 Boys Orange team lost out on finishing in the top three of the Norhwest 1st Dvision MRL after their two losses in Hebron, IN this past weekend.
The first match which had been even up until that point took a different turn after the sending off, of FCGB player Adam Wied, a somewhat harsh decision by the referee, after a in fairness clumsy tackle, that had absolutely no malicious intent. Down to 10 guys with about 70 minutes left to play. Only down one at the half the Orange guys were unable to get back into the game, they did put one in the opponents net after a combination between Santaga and Drabes, finished by the latter.
The 2nd game was, as too many 2nd games on one day usually are, not a very pretty affair. The short numbered Green Bay team (only 13 players) was the better of the two in the first half, but was unable to find the back of the net. Consecutive goals in the early part of the 2nd half put the team from Indiana ahead. Shawn Williams, one of FCGB's central backs, then figured he would try to do what the FCGB midfielders and forwards had not done a good enough job of all game, and that was make a strong and decisive run into the given space, a quick one-two combo with Santaga and a clinical finish into the corner. Maybe some new "life" for the Orange? It was not to be this afternoon, last minute chances were not converted and so back through Chicago, with two losses, for the drive home up North. The U17 Orange team will have to find a way to tun the tide again this upcoming weekend in a Premier League game saturday May 17 at Ft Howard park.
FCGB U17 Boys Blue - Elm Grove Academy, 2-1 (5/10)
Elm Grove scored its only goal at the 3 minute mark of the first half. Eleven minutes later Trent Allison scored for FC Green Bay on an assist by Josh Vanden Bush. Josh Vanden Bush scored the go ahead goal in the 34th minute of the first half off a cross from Sean Sarazen. Keeper Nick Van Pay recorded 5 saves on 6 shots by Elm Grove. FC Green Bay had 16 shots through out the game.
FCGB U17 Boys Blue - FC Madison White, 4-0 (5/11)
Hunter Yewman scored first at the 5-minute mark of the first half off an assist from Josh Vanden Bush. Trent Allison added a second unassisted goal for FC Green Bay at the 31 minute mark. Trent Allison added his second goal of the game at the 61 minute mark off an assist from Peter Sedlar. Peter Sedlar added the final goal at the 72 minute mark. Nick Van Pay recorded the shut out with 6 saves. FC Green Bay had 15 shots through out the match.
The Blue team is off to a flying start in the U17 1st divison State League, overall record 3-0-0. Next for the Blue guys, Friday May 16 a make-up game in Brookfield and Sunday May 18 a Wisconsin State Cup play-in game at Concordia University in Mequon.
Brookfield White - FCGB U14 Boys Orange 0-2, (5/10)
A 4:00 pm kickoff on a windy Brookfield Soccer Park field for the U14 Boys Orange team Wisconsin State Cup play-in game. After a short delay, waiting on the referees, the Orange guys came out hard at the start of this game. A great cross from Scott was nodded home by Zeise (who according to insiders had no idea he actually headed it in the goal due to the fact that his hair was in his eyes). A great start for the boys in Orange. The game was played under tough conditions, not only was it extremely windy, the field was bumpy, short and narrow. 0-1 at the half. In the 2nd half, another cross from the left flank, this time from Alan Berner, lead to the 0-2. This time around Nolan was there to push the ball accros the line. A few more chances by Jindra and Silvis could have put the 3rd one in, but nonetheless a great win for the FCGB squad. Keeper Jake and his back four kept a clean sheet. Coach Poitras claimed, on the phone, that it probably had a lot to do with his great session on the previous thursday when he worked with the back four.
FCGB U13 Boys Orange - Madison 56-ers White 2-0, (5/10)
No details on the game. A few facts worth mentioning, another shutout for keeper Marty, a league record of 2-1-2, and this was a good w-up for Tuesday evenings (5/13) State Cup play-in game against the Croatian Eagles team in Fond du Lac. Good luck to coach Kulas and his guys!
